Empties

img_2040.jpeg

How is it that I've been writing for this blog for this long and yet I've never made an empties post?? I love reading empties posts by other bloggers. Mostly because I'm nosy af. But hey, who isn't! It's always cool to see what products other bloggers have been using and what they thought of it after using it the whole way through. Soooo today I'm going to do a post of my own!

NEUTROGENA NIGHT CALMING MAKEUP REMOVER CLEANSING TOWELETTES - I've been using Neutrogena's makeup remover wipes for a while now, but this was my first time purchasing the 'night calming' ones. I actually liked them better than the original ones!! They have a really lovely scent, which is supposed to help you sleep but it's debatable whether or not it actually works, haha. Neutrogena is by far my fav brand when it comes to makeup removing wipes as they're really gentle on sensitive skin but clean off makeup really thoroughly. I'll def be buying these again!!

MAYBELLINE BABY SKIN INSTANT PORE ERASER PRIMER - I picked this up on a whim a while back and ended up actually really liking it! It's not something I'd use for heavy duty makeup or if I was trying to make my makeup last for several hours. But for casual, day-to-day use, I think it works pretty well! It definitely made my skin feel really soft and smooth, so that was cool. And the bottle looks so tiny, but it holds a shocking amount of product in there. I kept thinking that it was nearly empty but it held up for a while yet.

MAYBELLINE LASH SENSATIONAL MASCARA - My go-to mascara!! I just picked up a replacement for this bad boy, as I simply cannot be without it. I've been using this for a long time and I talked about it recently in my Holy Grail Beauty Products post (x). I just love it. I'll probably be repurchasing this over and over again for the foreseeable future.

GARNIER MICELLAR WATER FOR OILY SKIN - This has been sitting near-empty in my makeup drawer for wayyyy too long. So it's time to part ways with this. I was really into the Micellar water trend for a while, particularly during the spring and summer seasons of last year. But I don't know, it just doesn't do it for me anymore. I'm over it. Won't be repurchasing this again. Neutrogena wipes have my heart, sorry micellar water!!

What products have you used up entirely?

5 Holy Grail Beauty Products

fullsizerender-1.jpeg

Hello everybody! Today, I thought I'd talk about five of my holy grail beauty products, mostly from drugstore brands. I've been using these products consistently for a very long time, some for a couple years now, and they have never failed me. These are pretty much my all-time favourite products, ones that I use pretty much on a daily basis!

Let's just jump right in then, shall we?

MAYBELLINE LASH SENSATIONAL MASCARA

I've heard many a beauty blogger rave about this bad boy and about a year ago, I decided to give it a shot. At first, I found it quite clumpy and heavy on the lashes, but I find it just takes some getting used to. If you apply it with a light hand, you should easily be able to get a clump-free look! I love this mascara in particular because it separates my lashes (again, light handedness necessary!!) and really darkens them. Personally, length isn't an issue for me as I have very long natural eyelashes, but I've found this makes them appear even longer.

MAYBELLINE SUPERSTAY BETTER SKIN CONCEALER

I've been a die-hard fan of the Better Skin concealer for some time now. I think it's a lovely, lightweight concealer for brightening and also covering up blemishes, without being too harsh and heavy on the skin. What I love best about it, however, is that it's considered safe for sensitive eyes and skin, both of which I have and dealing with them is a nightmare. I've def had far less of an issue with irritated eyes or skin whilst using this!

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS GLOW KIT

This one is an oldie, but a goodie!! I actually first purchased this original ABH Glow Kit in my senior year of high school, as a bit of a post-exam treat for myself, and I immediately fell in love. I know it was sorta hyped up back when it came out, but it is a lovely product nonetheless. I love the shades in this kit, as they are more gold/pink, which is more up my alley than the white or metallic shades of other palettes. My personal fav is "Dripping in Gold" which I've sadly recently hit pan on :(

COLOURPOP ULTRA SATIN LIP

I love ColourPop. They're by far one of my favourite inexpensive makeup brands of all-time. And $6 is a small price to pay for their incredible liquid lippies. The formula of their Ultra Satin Lip is really quite nice. Personally, I don't find it very drying on the lips, and it's definitely long-lasting. Not to mention the shades are absolutely beautiful!!! I find that they have so many options, which makes this range so versatile.

MAYBELLINE FACESTUDIO MASTER PRIME FACE PRIMER BLUR + ILLUMINATE

This doubles as a highlighting product and a primer, which is pretty cool. If I want just a pop of highlight, I'll just blend in a spot of this on my cheekbones and on my brow bone. But if I want a really dewy overall look, I'll use this as a primer and apply it all over my face, before putting on my foundation. I think it gives the perfect amount of glow for a spring or summer makeup look, so I use this a lot during the summer season!

What are your favourite/holy grail products?

Autumn Berry Makeup Look

fullsizerender-1.jpeg

Happy Halloween everybody!! Whether you're spending the holiday at a costume party, or sitting at home eating sweets, I hope you have a great night! Myself and my family will be handing out candy to the kids in our neighbourhood while eating chocolates and watching films. Today I want to do a quick post, going over one of my favourite autumn makeup looks. It's a berry/rosy kinda look, which is very flattering but also ever-so-simple to replicate, especially if you're rushing off in the morning to work or to class.

To prep my face, I use theAveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer, after washing my face with either the Olay Clearly Clean Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment Scrub or the Olay Deeply Clean Mineral Face Cleanser. Once my face is prepped, I go in with the Maybelline Better Skin Concealer under my eyes, around my nose, basically anywhere that I need to conceal any redness or blemishes. I blend that out with a Real Techniques Contour Brush and then move onto my eyebrows.

For my eyebrows, I've lately been using the e.l.f. Eyebrow Kit with the e.l.f. Eyebrow Duo Brush. I use light strokes, following the shape of my eyebrows and the directions of my eyebrow hairs, and then I brush the product through with the little spoolie. Once I've finished, I go back in with the Maybelline Better Skin Concealer and apply it below and above my eyebrows, blending it out with a Real Techniques Pointed Foundation Brush.

For my eyes, I've been using the Too Faced Natural Love Palette a lot recently, as I think the colours are very autumnal. I blend the colour Honey Butter, which is a neutral pink, in my crease - then I blend the burgundy-coloured Makeup & Chill into the outer corner of each eye. I finish off with applying Honeymoon all over my lid to give my eye that extra pop. If I have time, I'll do a cat-eye flick with my eyeliner, using the Skone Cosmetics Insanely Intense Waterproof Eyeliner. Once I've finished my eyeliner, I complete the look with my Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara on my upper lashes.

For my face, I use the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation, which I apply all over my face using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush or the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I set my foundation with Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder, and then apply the contour shade of the Smashbox Step-by-Step Contour Kit to the contours of my cheeks. Lastly, I apply Dripping in Gold from the Anastasia Beverly Hills That Glow Glow Kit to my cheekbones.

The very last step is applying my lipstick. I typically opt for the Colourpop's Lovebug Ultra Matte Lip, as it's a perfect burgundy shade for this season, and for this look.

Current Beauty Favourites

Hello everybody! As I have returned to Florida for March Break, I have gotten ample opportunity to not only pick-up some new beauty products at my local Ulta shop, but also to rummage through my current stash. Through doing so, I realized which of those were my absolute to-die-fors and decided to share those with you all today!

(1) NYX Lip Lingerie liquid lipstick in "Exotic"

I picked up this liquid lipstick at the beginning of this week, and I'm already loving it. It's a stunning matte dark shade that shows up really nicely in photos. I cannot get enough of it. Also, I was extremely impressed with it's price, it only cost about $6 USD and it has amazing quality for the price

(2) Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

I've been using this brush to apply foundation for over a year now and I have personally found that it's one of the best (if not the best) brushes for foundation that I've ever used. It's one of my all-time favourite beauty buys, by far

(3) Smashbox Contour Palette

This contour palette is my first palette, a Christmas gift from my parents. Back in Toronto, I have the Clinique Sculpting Contour chubby stick, but I prefer this palette just because I think it gives a softer final product. The set comes complete with 3 shades - highlight, contour, bronze - and an angled brush.

(4) EOS Coconut Milk lip balm

EOS lip balms have a lot of hype surrounding them, which made me somewhat hesitant to give them a go until I bought my first one just over a year ago. Ever since then, I've been hooked on them ever since. My most recent EOS purchase was of the Coconut Milk lip balm and I love how soft it makes my lips. Plus, it smells amazingg

(5) Maybelline Fit Me concealer in "Light"

Typically, I'm not the type to stick to just one concealer. I like to try out different ones and if I like one, I'll stick to it for a month or so but then as soon as I've gone through about two tubes, I switch to a different kind. The sole exception to this trend is this Fit Me concealer. I love it so much, the shade is perfect to my skin tone and it blends quite nicely
