Bath & Body Works Autumnal Haul

IMG_4640.JPG

Hi, my name’s Felicia and I’m an autumn-aholic.

Okay, but in all seriousness, I’m a teensy tiny bit addicted to autumn. It’s my favourite season after all. And what better way to fully embrace the autumn spirit than to fill your house with glorious scents of pumpkin and apple delight! Bath & Body Works is my go-to for candles and other home-related scents, even though I’m slowly warming up to Yankee Candle too. I just think their scents and the designs of their candles are so lovely, and they’ve typically got great sales going on.

Since I’ve returned from Florida, I’ve done two separate trips to Bath & Body Works and spent a bundle each time… Oops. I’ve bought quite a few lovely autumnal things that I thought I’d share with you guys today as a) I love sharing the autumnal joy and b) I haven’t done a haul post in quite some time. So let’s get right into it, shall we?

Stress Relief 3-Wick Candle [x] - This was the first of two replacement candles I purchased, as two of my favs were nearly completely burnt out. This candle has a lovely scent of eucalyptus and spearmint that is soo soothing. I usually burn this candle while I’m studying or doing homework, as a little way to keep my stress levels down while I get to work. I’ve found it’s really made an improvement to the whole experience!

Mahogany Apple 3-Wick Candle [x] - Surprisingly, this my boyfriend’s favourite scent of the Bath & Body Works collection and this is the second of the two replacement candles - he nearly burnt his entire first candle in this scent. My boyfriend is not at all into candles or scents at all for that matter, but this one is an exception. It’s a mix of mahogany woods, golden apple, pink peppercorn, and fresh lavender sprigs.

Vanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow 3-Wick Candle [x] - Prior to this year, I’ve been very anti-pumpkin (I know, I know, I’m in the minority). I’ve never liked anything pumpkin before, except for as decor, so I never gave pumpkin-scented candles much attention. But this year I thought I’d branch out and give them a try. After a bit of a browsing, I realized I do like some pumpkin candles after all! This was one of the ones I loved most - I really liked about 4 but could only afford to buy a couple haha. It’s got a delicious scent of vanilla, pumpkin spice, homemade marshmallow, and caramel that really smells like a confectionary to me. It’s very sweet, but wonderful.

Pumpkin Apple 3-Wick Candle [x] - This had to be my absolute favourite pumpkin-scent in the entire store. It’s a mix of red delicious apples, pumpkin, cinnamon, and clove buds. I’m not usually big on cinnamon, in fact certain levels of cinnamon make me a bit nauseous, but I find it hardly noticeable in this candle, more of a background note. I’ve burnt this one the most so far and can see it running out before the season is done if I’m quite honest!

I’ve also become quite the connoisseur of car scents in the past few months after I discovered the Yankee Candle scents (which you can read about in my Recent Favourites post). How did I not know until now that Bath & Body Works sells car scents?! The Car Scentportables are so cool because you first buy a little vent clip (there are a ton of cute designs, mine is a rosy gold one) and then you buy refills to put in the holder. The refills come at about $3.50 a piece, but there was a 4/$10 sale going on when I was at the store so I bought 4 :) I like how you can buy any refill you like, which means that as the seasons change, so can my scents! (You can buy my holder here).

Car Scentportables Pumpkin Apple Refill [x] - Of course I bought the Pumpkin Apple scent for my car!! It’s autumn (almost) after all! I’m sure this will be the first one I use, once I’ve gone through my Yankee Candle scents.

Car Scentportables Sweater Weather Refill [x] - Oddly enough, I don’t actually have the Sweater Weather candle, even though I love the scent. It smells of fresh sage, juniper berry, aromatic eucalyptus, and fresh woods - so it’s a very nature scent, which I really like.

Car Scentportables Flannel Refill [x] - Girl I love me some Flannel. Is this anyone else’s fav autumn scent?! I have it in a hand soap too and oh my goshhh it’s heaven. The fragrance is crisp autumn air, bergamot, heirloom mahogany, and soft musk.

Car Scentportables Vanilla Bean Refill [x] - And, of course, I had to pick up a lovely vanilla scent because I’m a major vanilla fan. I feel like this would be a good anytime scent for any season, in-between trips to Bath & Body Works to get new refills!

Let’s see how long I can go before I’ve burnt out every candle and gone through every scentportable lol…

Mini Homeware, Bath + Clothing Haul

img_1469.jpg

Looking back on the history of this blog, I am fairly certain that I have never written a haul blog post. Isn't that crazy??? I mean, I rarely have the money to buy myself that many things anyway, so I guess it's not that much of a surprise lol but still!!! Today, however, I've got a mini haul post to share with you all after taking a successful trip down to the mall.

img_1470.jpg

The first thing I picked up were these candle holders from Bath & Body Works. My mum and I have been on the hunt for candle holders for about a month or so, as we needed a lil something to decorate the mantlepiece and these were just perfect!! They easily fit Bath & Body Works candles, as well as candles from other brands that are the same size. Definitely a nice addition to our living room.

Next up, I grabbed these Ultra High Rise Jeggings from Garage. I promise they're different shades of blue!!! Garage jeans are by far my fav for two reasons: 1) they're SUPER high-waisted which I find flatters me way better than low-rise jeans and 2) they're stretchy and crazy comfortable. They were actually having a BOGO 50% off sale, so it was the perf time to buy some new jeans which I needed so badly.

My last purchases were from Lush. The first thing I picked up was the Pink Bath Bomb, which is shimmery and has a wonderful candy & vanilla scent. Kinda worried about the shimmer, just because I don't want the sparkles clinging to my tub, but hopefully it will be ok. I seriously cannot wait to hop into a bath and just soak in this!!! I also grabbed the Eau Roma Water, which I've heard a lot about and have been dying to try out. It's a toner with rose water and lavender in it, which is geared towards 'mature, sensitive or dry skin' which is perf for me. I'm v excited to give this a try!

Have you tried any of these products before? Lemme know in the comments!

Bedside Essentials

img_0360.jpg

I'm a total night owl. Waking up in the morning for me is absolute hell, but that's probably because I'm up until 3-4am the night before. It takes soo much to get me to fall asleep at a decent time so when I find out I have to be up super early the next morning, I have a whole system to coax me to sleep. With this comes a collection of products/items that I cannot live without, which permanently reside on my bedside table.

A book

If I'm having trouble falling asleep, one of the only things that can help me get tired. (On the other hand, I also sometimes stay up all night to finish a book... but anyway). Currently, I'm reading All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven at night. I can only read young adults novels at night. I find any other genre keeps me wired, as I'm too enthralled in the novel.

Nighttime Face Cream

Nighttime skincare is so important as I'm sure you know and I'm sure I've said about a billion times. I have been using the e.l.f Nourishing Night Cream since the beginning of the summer and it feels so lovely on. The scent is also very relaxing which def helps me calm down at night.

Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Stress Relief Room Spray

This is more aimed towards stress/anxiety, but I find it is also very soothing and useful for the issue of insomnia. You just spray two bursts of this in your room, perhaps over your bedding, and let it work it's magic. It seriously does wonders for me.

Lush Sleepy Lotion

This is a new purchase for me but it definitely deserves to be on this list. I've only used it once but I'm already super impressed. You've probably heard already heard of this lovely product and the rave reviews it's gotten from people with insomnia, anxiety, and chronic illnesses. It works so quickly to help you sleep naturally. Not to mention it makes your skin feel so freaking soft. Thank you, Lush!!

What essentials do you keep close to your bed?

September Favourites

september-favourites-blog.jpg

I know it is so typical of me to say this, but I can't believe it's September. Where did the month go?! The days completely slipped past me and before I realized it, the month was gone. Just like that. It's been such a busy month, what with returning to school and jumping back into a daily schedule after four months of living my days spontaneously. Because I've put myself on a tragically tight budget so I can save up money for a Disney trip in the new year, I have been very frugal in the spending department. However, there are a few items I've recently purchased, plus some older goodies which I have been just loving this past month.

For some reason, the past month has been the worst in terms of my skin health. My face has completely broken out in blemishes and it's been bringing me down. Fortunately, the only thing keeping me sane has been the Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer. It is probably one of my favourite moisturizers, ever. It contains salicylic acid, the ingredient which is used to clear acne, plus it is hypoallergenic so my sensitive skin doesn't react poorly to it at all. I use this every morning in my skincare routine and it has been making my skin feel much better than it did at the beginning of the month.

The other skincare product I have been loving lately is one that I've owned for a while, but have recently fallen back in love with. Way back in the far away land of 2013, I was fifteen years old and brand new to the online beauty community. Soap and Glory was a line that was super popular amongst beauty bloggers at the time and so, being the follower that I was, I ran to the drugstore to pick up the famed Righteous Butter body butter. I was not disappointed, and I used it religiously. Over the years, I forgot about the brand and it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I glanced at the tub in my bathroom counter and decided to try it again. I've been using it now every day, especially after I shower, and my skin has literally never been so soft! It has such a lovely scent to it, as well, and I love that I can smell it on me throughout the day.

As for makeup products, I purchased the e.l.f. Lock on Liner and Brow Cream in a spur of a moment decision while at my local drugstore (which I have created an unhealthy obsession with - damn you Rexall and your great beauty department!). I am always on the hunt for new brow products and this cream seemed interesting so I decided to give it ago. I have not used it as a liner, but as for a brow cream, I have been impressed so far. I use an e.l.f. duo eyebrow brush, with a brush and spoolie combo, to apply this and I have been loving the results. Even my boyfriend said the other day that my eyebrows have been looking great recently, so that's a real testimony! Haha

Last month, for my birthday, my parents gifted me the Too Faced Natural Love Palette, which was so kind of them. I absolutely love it. Typically, I tend to lean on the more neutral side of eyeshadow shades and so this palette is perfect for me. It has a few lighter matte shades and a ton of gorgeous shimmery shades. I find myself reaching for this palette every day during my makeup routine. My favourite shades of the palette are Makeup & Chill, Hot & Bothered, Satin Sheets, and Honeymoon.

With the changing seasons, of course I had to make my seasonal stop at Bath and Body Works to pick up a few new candles and soaps for autumn. Of the several I picked up, my favourite was the Hello Sugar Warm Apple Pie candle. I absolutely love this candle. It genuinely smells like a freshly baked pie which is probably one of the greatest scents in the whole world. I've lit this candle already a dozen times, and I'm sure I'll be getting a ton of use out of it this season.

Aside from makeup and beauty, I have been totally into music this month. I'm not sure but I think it has to do with the fact that I've been commuting to and from school every day, which is a 40-minute drive each way in traffic. Music has been keeping me sane haha. My two favourite artists to listen to lately have been John Mayer and Sam Phillips. Both of them have such soothing music which is great to listen to while driving and while doing homework or studying. Like, let's be real, John Mayer has the voice of an angel. How can you be stressed while listening to him sing? Currently, my favourite songs by them are "If I Could Write" by Sam Phillips, and "In The Blood" by John Mayer.

Also this month, I have been completely and utterly obsessed with the tv show, This Is Us. Yes, I know. I'm so late to the party. But basically, I am in love with it. My mum, my boyfriend, and I all watched the first season on Netflix within like a week. And now we've bought the iTunes season pass for season two, which is currently playing on tv every week. The Pearson family is so complicated and loveable and Milo Ventimiglia as Jack Pearson is stealing my heart more and more with every passing episode. I can't wait for the next episode to come out! Ugh plus, the soundtrack is just beautiful.

And there you have it! Those are the very mismatched, unrelated things that I have loved this past month. I can't wait to see what October has in store, as I have a ton of cool things coming up that I'm so anxious to share with all of you! I'm so excited for October, and I hope that everyone has had a fabulous September.

What have you guys been loving this month?
