Ipsy: April 2017 First Impressions

The April Glam Bag has arrived! Stay tuned to hear all about the Sideshow bag.

The Bag

Well, I'm going to come right out and say it. This bag just did not do it for me. I'm not sure if it's the texture - which I can only describe as foamy - or that it was made to resemble a ticket. It might actually be the fact that the zipper reminds me of the one on the Calliou backpack I had when I was a kid. Whatever it may be, this was just not my favourite bag so far.

Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Glow Shimmer Shadow and Highlighter (★★★★)

At first, I was kind of on the fence about this highlighter/shadow, based on it's size. Its so teeny!! The picture makes it look even bigger than it is in reality. However, aside from the fact that I'm not sure how useful it will be as a highlighter, I really like this product. I used it on my eyelids, with brown eyeshadow blended in the crease, and the result was actually quite pretty. I can definitely see myself using this as a shadow on a regular basis.

EM Cosmetics Illustrative Eyeliner Brush Tip (★★★★★)

I love this eyeliner. I am so picky about my liquid eyeliners and I really love how easy the application is. Not to mention it dries sooo quickly. I will definitely be using this every single day from now on. 100% a great choice on Ipsy's part.

Theorie Marula Oil Transforming Hair Serum (★★★)

This one. I just.... meh. I don't love it, I don't hate it. I'm sitting somewhere in between love and hate right now. I tried out this product on my damp hair after I showered, before I blow-dried my hair. My hair goes massive if I don't spend thirty minutes meticulously blow-drying every strand on my head. I mean, huge. I'm talking Monica Geller. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's a picture for reference.

I had hoped that by using this hair serum before I blow-dried that I would receive better results, aka actually straightish hair. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Maybe it's just that my hair is difficult, or that I didn't use enough of the product. Either way, I wasn't totally amazed. Bummer

Ciaté London Mini Bamboo Bronzer (★★★)

This was just O.K. Although, I only used it once, I didn't have a really lasting impression. At least, it wasn't any better than the drugstore brand bronzer I'm currently using. That being said, I think I'll have to try it out a few more times before I pass judgement.

Dream by PS Cosmeceutical Infused Nail Lacquer in Southern Sand (★★★)

I've had my nails painted this nude-pink colour for a day and I've gone back and forth, liking and disliking it the whole time. What I dislike the most is the consistency of the actual polish. It went on clumpy and it looks bubbled on, which I really hate in a nail polish - there wasn't really any way to thin out the product. Hopefully it was just a first-time problem and it won't happen next time, because I think I do actually like the colour, haha! You can see the colour of the nail polish on my nails in the picture below :)

Final Thoughts

This month's bag was so-so. I didn't love it, but I think I'll find a use out of most of the products at least.
